Occupy Wall Street campgrounds: open all year, without a permit #Teaparty #OWS

The OWS campgrounds. Tarp tents, rock-throwing and rats. What more could you ask for in a three-month, crime-infested vacation from normal responsibilities? Disturbing the peace and avoiding bathing, common sense and adulthood... the democratic way.

Gov. Jan Brewer releases letter she handed to Obama - USA TODAY

Gov. Jan Brewer releases letter she handed to Obama - USA TODAY

JANUARY 27, 2012
http://pulse.me/s/5nt8T

So, out of The Arizona Republic came the report that Brewer released her letter to Obama. The one she handed him before she pointed the fickle finger of conservatism at him.

It is obviously FILLED with despicable vitriol befitting a crass old lady Republican racist witch of a governor, of course.

What?-- Oh! I'm sorry, apparently I've got that wrong.

Apparently, it was not filled with hate for that damn black man who thinks his kind deserves to run this country. I can only conclude, in the place of my highly respectable, rarely biased media friends on CNN's "Starting Point" that it was written and approved by someone other than Jan Brewer. Will these evil conservatives stop at NOTHING?

I mean, would CNN have on some former newsman and former comic to disparage a governor, if it weren't the God's honest TRUTH? No, not possible.

Then again...

The letter says in part:

"You've arrived in a state at the forefront of America's recovery -- and her future," she wrote. "We both love this great country, but we fundamentally disagree on how to best make America grow and prosper once again. I'd love an opportunity to share with you how we've been able to turn Arizona around with hard choices that turned out to be the right ones. And, of course, my offer to visit the border -- and buy lunch -- still stands."

The governor signed the letter "With respect, Jan."

Well, I'd rather be killing Chinese workers than pay a little more for my toys

Being facetious in that headline. But this is how we save a few bucks, whenever we buy something made in China, in the USA: by letting our consumerism shield us from the moral inconsistencies of other governments and cultures.

You think America has poor?! Our homeless might be better off than some family living in mud-floored houses in China, going to work on crap you buy at Wal-mart, Kmart and various other places. Like Macy's.

Wake up and smell the capitalist-tinged communism of China, Skippy. Its screwy repression, in the twisted paradox that is global economics, is what keeps America in the Treasury bonds business on one side, and, otherwise, the leading consumer nation in the world. Artificial currency value plus impoverished masses plus business amorality is how China became what they are today. And, what has been helping the USA be the clumsy consumerists they are.

You think cheap products come without mistreatment, with no cruel regimented management, without something at least as gritty as late 1800s to early 1900s American manufacturing plants? It's on the other side of the world, so that makes it OK!

Isn't that what makes America great? Am I being totally out of line, or just risqué? Perhaps I am being too harsh. Or, perhaps no so harsh. There's this:

Beijing (CNN) -- Microsoft is investigating a report that workers at a Chinese plant that makes its Xbox game systems threatened mass suicide in a pay dispute, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the company's Hong Kong office.

CNN has not been able to confirm details of the dispute and Microsoft and Foxconn, the plant owner, did respond to inquiries.

"Microsoft takes working conditions in the factories that manufacture its products very seriously, and we are currently investigating this issue," the Microsoft statement said.

Foxconn -- a Chinese contractor that makes brand-name electronics for companies such as Microsoft and Apple -- would only say that there was a protest at its Wuhan, China factory and it was over.

Foxconn's raised workers pay twice at its factory inShenzhen, China, in 2010 after a spate of suicides, Chinese state media reported at the time.

"We have a stringent Vendor Code of Conduct that spells out our expectations, and we monitor working conditions closely on an ongoing basis and address issues as they emerge," Microsoft's statement said. "Microsoft is committed to the fair treatment and safety of workers employed by our vendors and to ensuring conformance with Microsoft policy."

After the 2010 suicides at Foxconn, the company said it was taking measures to improve workers' lives, including organizing recreational activities, calling in Buddhist monks to offer spiritual consolation and setting up a 24-hour help line.

Foxconn, one of the world's top electronics manufacturers, also makes products for companies such as Dell, Hewlett Packard and Sony.

It employed an estimated 800,000 employees in China in October 2010.

Obama 2012 after Iowa Caucus: "This is not a joke"

What are non-leftist/statists up against in 2012? This:

Jim Messina, Obama campaign leader writes in a campaign email (there is at least one a day) that the Tea Party is opposed to many things. Not surprisingly, he leaves out big government, burdensome (economy-killing) taxation and ... well, socialistic ideals of American "progress". Oh yeah, and he neglected to mention many Tea Party types are against misleading, sniveling emails such as his. But that's a given.

Quote:

Who exactly leads the Republican race going forward isn't clear, but we do know two things:

1) The extremist Tea Party agenda won a clear victory. No matter who the Republicans nominate, we'll be running against someone who has embraced that agenda in order to win -- vowing to let Wall Street write its own rules, end Medicare as we know it, roll back gay rights, leave the troops in Iraq indefinitely, restrict a woman's right to choose, and gut Social Security to pay for more tax cuts for millionaires and corporations.

2) We'll be facing an onslaught of unprecedented spending from outside groups funded by corporations and anonymous donors. In Iowa alone, so-called "super PACs" spent $12.9 million on almost exclusively negative ads. These groups will turn their fire even more directly on us in the weeks ahead to prove that their candidate is the most anti-Obama.

"Not a joke," you say? No, it is not a joke, but in November 2012, jokes will be made about a new GOP president, rather than a campaigner-in-chief misleading his way into a second administration. He has a record. No matter how ugly you make it, Messina, Obama has a record now. And it's pretty darned AWFUL.

Belgian grenade-tosser, involved with illicit drugs and guns, kills three and himself

The pathetic killer in the strange, seemingly random, Belgian grenade attack that happened today is identified. He had no connection to terrorists, but was a known criminal who dealt in firearms.

He is another punk who, whether he was mad, or lost and abused, or simply cruel, dragged others into his circle of misery rather than just leave quickly by his own hand. It's selfish. SELFISH. It is not something to find an excuse for, but to implore people, once again, to seek help or report on such foul beings as these.

Why do such stinking sacks of flesh insist on wreaking pain on their way out? Was the misery they embraced and peddled not enough? Terrible.

Like the recent Va. Tech killer who offed a policeman for... just being there, it seems, this European criminal simply wanted to spread some misery on his way out. Like so many who commit murder-suicides. Their ego might know humiliation, but knows nothing of real humility.

The 33-year old Belgian punk chose to justify his own pathetic existence by leaving carnage and pain behind for families of several (likely random) victims. This was a selfish, horrific, vicious act. I do not care how desperate someone is, such acts are not excusable. The act of someone who didn't deserve a civilized existence.

They are acts that reflect on one's circle, of family, friends, confidants, and more. The sooner people firm up and face the truth that even "nice" people are capable of evil or depraved acts, the better off we all will be.

In the States, you are bad news if you drive drunk, smoke, don't wear a seat belt. But having sex with underage children is hushed up. Rape is hushed up. Domestic abuse is still in the realm where women or men are ashamed of it. Awful creeps who haven't YET killed or severely harmed someone are not expected to be watched over like problem children, given so many chances, and then... Belgium happens. Or VT, or Sandusky, the Norwegian massacre, countless crimes, including murder-suicides by people with warrants, long records, restraining orders.

Why don't we give more breaks to those who aren't in effect hurting others, as we do to criminals and "nice" people who do indecent things?

We cannot stop all crimes, of course, but we have yet to try to change the expectations of judicial and societal systems where criminals are concerned.

Police state, no. A state that favors the victims, and a society that tolerates victims, even when they are NOT PART OF A SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP, would be nice.

The gunman, named as Nordine Amrani, 33, began his attack near a bus stop at Place Saint Lambert, a central shopping area and the site of the city's annual Christmas market and its main courthouse.

He ended by shooting himself in the head with a handgun, witnesses said.
